Saturday, October 11, 2008 1:28 PM While mowing the lawn today as I do almost every weekend ,Out of the corner of my eye I saw the porch swing moving in the breeze. I half expected to see mom sitting there giving me instructions on how to cut or where I missed. She touched every thing and every place in that yard. After all she did know best. When the orchids bloomed she was mesmerized. The bonzai trees intrigued her. Not one plant or square inch went unnoticed. She loved the nature and wildness of the woods behind the house. The day she and I saw a large hawk chasing a squirrell , she implored me to shoo the hawk away and save the squirrell. Before I could react, This is what happened. The squirrell was not to be intimidated and went on the offensive and ran right at the hawk. The hawk then retreated back up to a post to perch and size up the situation. Once again the squirrell took the offensive and ran right up the post and chased the bewildered hawk off. Mom and I looked at each other in amazement, Thinking we just missed taping a funniest video winner. Just another amazing moment in the life of my mom and me.
